Healing Foundations Counseling

You deserve to heal.

Welcome!

I am thrilled you have found your way here. Life sometimes takes us in directions that are challenging, troubling, and confusing. Sometimes our usual way of handling things become ineffective, or maybe they are not available to us anymore. We may feel stuck. My hope is that you will be brave enough to ask for help and strong enough to heal.

FAQs

Q: How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

A: The only way to really know is to come to a session. The relationship between client and therapist needs to feel safe and comfortable. This may not happen immediately, but most clients get a sense if this connection will develop after working together for a bit. And if not, THAT IS OK. I will help connect you with another therapist that may be a better fit.

Q: Do you offer in-person or online?

A: I offer both in-person and online. However, due to licensing limitations, online sessions must be conducted while the client is in North Dakota.

Q: What can I expect from the first session?

A: The first session is more structured than weekly sessions. I will introduce myself and go over basic information. I will ask questions about your basic history, symptoms, barriers, and strengths. We will keep it pretty light the first session so we can get to know each other and see if we are a good fit.

Q: What can I expect from therapy?

A: As a therapist, I believe in assisting you in building skills to cope with any symptoms getting in the way of you enjoying your life. Because of this, we will primarily focus on skill-building around your goals to achieve what you want to work towards. There are times where processing significant events and emotions will also be beneficial. We will work together to identify barriers and strengths and move towards your goal(s). I may ask questions or offer an alternative perspective or suggestion, but the journey is yours.

Q: How long/how often are sessions?

A: Sessions run about 50 minutes on average. I typically begin clients once weekly, with a goal towards increasing time between sessions to allow you to implement new skills independently.

Q: What are your favorite songs from your teenage years that you still rock out to when nobody else is listening?

A:Anything by Mariah Carey; Wannabe; Smooth Criminal; Ironic; Shake It Off
